La marque anglaise Monitor Audio a dévoilé, il y a quelques jours, les nouvelles itérations de ses enceintes de la série Gold. Parmi elles, la Gold 300 6G vient de recevoir le prix de la meilleure enceinte colonne de la saison 2024/2025, décerné par le jury de l'EISA.
Cette nouvelle série Gold de sixième génération est le fruit d'un remaniement en profondeur. La fabrication des nouvelles enceintes est chinoise. Les haut-parleurs, les ébénisteries ainsi que les filtres ont été substantiellement modifiés. La structure de la gamme a également été revue. L'enceinte de bibliothèque Gold 100 évolue pour passer de deux à trois voies et devenir un gros modèle compact à poser sur pied ou sur un buffet. Une enceinte de bibliothèque de taille plus réduite, Gold 50, fait son apparition. Le modèle surround dipolaire GX disparait au profit d'une enceinte murale deux voies, la Gold On Wall.
Les enceintes Monitor Audio Gold 6G utilisent des tweeters MDP III à diaphragme microplissé à la manière d’Air Motion Transformer, des haut-parleurs de médium et de grave HDT à cône C-CAM, en aluminium et céramique, comportant des dessins en nids d'abeille.

A comprehensive, highly flexible and user-friendly range, Gold Series 6G comprises six distinctive loudspeakers. Each model addresses a clearly defined user requirement, adds innovative acoustic technologies, and is crafted to celebrate and exude the distinctiveness and quality customers expect from the Gold Series.
Building on over three decades of heritage, Gold Series 6G represents the start of an epic new chapter; a new way to experience the joy of sensational sound.
Acoustic Innovation
Monitor Audio’s Gold Series has a long history of introducing innovative acoustic technologies, and this sixth generation is no different. Gold Series 6G boasts a totally new metal cone technology in the form of Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology (HDT). HDT draws on the RDT III cones utilised in the ground-breaking Hyphn and the flagship Platinum Series 3G, which consists of a NomexÒ honeycomb layer sandwiched between aluminium and carbon fibre skins. The HDT cone employs a new hexagonal pattern to disrupt symmetries in the cone breakup, creating a cone that shifts the frequency up by 10% compared to the RST II cones found on the Silver Series 7G.
The new cone also utilises Monitor Audio’s proprietary C-CAM technology, which when compared to standard aluminium designs produces a stronger, more fatigue-resistant cone. The result is that the new HDT, C-CAM cones are among the strongest, most piston-like cones Monitor Audio has ever engineered.
The new HDT, C-CAM cones have been utilised across the range, including a new 3-inch mid-frequency driver, a 6-inch bass-mid unit, and 6- and 8-inch bass drivers.
In addition to the HDT, C-CAM cones, key acoustic features include:
- A revised version of Monitor Audio’s MPD III (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) transducer used in both Hyphn and the Platinum Series. This bespoke design delivers precise high-frequency sound with greater consistency, clarity and accuracy. The levels of detail achieved makes music sound more lifelike, crisp and real.
- The Gold Series 6G’s crossovers have been optimised for in-room performance; this is particularly important for the new On-Wall 6G model, where typical usage is closer to Custom Install than traditional Hi-Fi.
Cabinet design
All the Gold Series 6G’s cabinets are designed to form the most rigid structure possible, thus allowing the drivers to perform to their optimum capabilities. A top trim detail on the 100 and 500 models allows the MPD III high-frequency transducer to be placed further up the cabinet, optimising the cabinet edge diffraction on these larger models. This helps deliver consistent and precise imaging across the entire frequency range.
For the first time ever, the new Gold Series 6G boats a man-made ebony veneer. It offers the quality and lustre of real ebony, but with a significant reduced to carbon impact compared to traditional methods of real-wood veneered production. The high-gloss black and satin white finishes add a contemporary edge that ensure whatever the environment, Gold Series 6G will fit in seamlessly.

Gold 100 6G
The Gold 100 6G is a substantial three-way, stand-mount speaker capable of deep extended bass, beautifully lifelike midrange and crustal clear high frequencies. Its features the latest MPD III high-frequency transducer, the new 3-inch mid-driver and a powerful 8-inch bass driver, both of which benefit from the latest HDT, C-CAM cone technology and hugely powerful motor systems.
Gold 50 6G
The Gold 50 6G is a compact, high-fidelity bookshelf speaker. Its discreet proportions, plus the ability to partner it with the ST-2 speaker stand, make it the most flexible of all the Gold Series 6G models when it comes to placement in a listening environment. Gold On-Wall 6G
The Gold On-Wall 6G is a new, highly flexible addition to the Gold Series 6G range. Not only does its slim profile allow it to be a fantastic rear and side channel AV speaker, but it also means that it is perfect for wall-mountable front LCR (left-centre-right) applications – making it an ideal home cinema speaker.
